Angela Clerkin is an actor, writer and theatre maker. She is an Associate Artist with Improbable and Chris Goode & Company. She launched ClerkinWorks in 2013 to create visually rich, funny, provocative shows that use personal stories to tell global tales.
“Whisper your darkest secrets to my daughter, unburden yourself and start over with a totally clean slate. She will never tell a soul, she is The Secret Keeper”
Her new show, The Secret Keeper, was developed at the National Theatre Studio and is co-produced with Ovalhouse. It opens in October 2017 and is followed by a UK tour. TSK is a political fairytale about secrecy, collusion and community responsibility – with songs, magpies and a murderous gothic heart.
“The Secret Keeper is a glorious piece of theatre, macabre, hilarious, provocative and profound in equal measure.” Purni Morell
Her first show, The Bear, was co-produced with Improbable. The Bear is a mythical murder mystery about the transformative power of anger. It toured 12 UK theatres, selling out at Tobacco Factory, Brighton Fringe, Royal Exchange and the Traverse.
“A modern Fairytale in the style of the Grimm Brothers”
